With today's rising housing costs, and land scarcity, an In-Law Apartment is a great alternative to building a new home or condominium. The classic design is 500-1000 square feet of living space complete with bedroom, bathroom, and in most cases a full kitchen. An In-Law Apartment is not just limited to the basement or attic of your existing home. In many cases, our projects consist of adding additional living space to the home. Our goal is to do this in a way where both occupiers of the building have their privacy. In addition, we can also design the home in a way that the existing home does not have a "duplex" or multi-family style to it. In many cases, you would not know the existing home houses an additional apartment. The classic In-Law Apartment is NOT JUST for those who are aging or ill. Many sell their primary home, build an in-law with a relative, and purchase a vacation home to travel to in the winter months. Bring us your In-Law Apartments plans, or use one of ours. We work with one of the premier architects in our region, and will work closely with you until a satisfactory design is completed. We at GoodFellas Construction walk you through the entire process from start to finish: The first appointment is a free evaluation of the existing home. We ask some basic questions, take some measurements, and try to provide a very rough ballpark estimate of the project. If you choose to work further GoodFellas, we charge a nominal design fee to spec out the details of the In-Law Apartment. At the conclusion of the design phase, you will be provided with a full set of architecural plans that are yours to keep. We'll use these plans to give you a very thorough contract with a firm price, and payment schedule information. If you decide to not have us build your project - you keep the plans. We are confident that once you begin to work with GoodFellas, you will hire us to build your project. This process takes anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. During the design phase, you will have an opportunity to walk through one of our previous projects. GoodFellas will obtain all of the permitting required, and assist you with any local applications that vary from town to town. Upon a fully signed contract, we send in our crew of highly skilled and insured tradesman to begin completing your project. At the end of every day we work hard to make your your project area is clean and presentable.
