Filed Under: General Interest After so much interest in the newsletter from the ice storm - and a suggestion from Pete Caputa, we have created this blog page for every to share their stories, photos, and accounts of the storm.Here's my account: I started my day at the normal time of 6:30am. We are building a New Construction Home in Upton, and I planned on paying a visit. My brother-in-law Sean was with me. He was going to help for a bit on the house. Joe (the other founder of GoodFellas, called me and said Rutland was hit really bad. They lost power at 7pm the night before, and did not expect power for days. I quickly began calling around for generators. People had start lining up at the Building Suppliers at 5:45am. I was a little behind the curve at 7am. I managed to save 2 generators from Lowe's in Westborough. We went there, picked them up, got some gas, and began heading towards Rutland. It was like a movie. Roads were closed. People were driving over lawns to get around downed telephone pole. Driving over power lines in the road was a normal occurrence. Sunrooms completely smashed. Emergency vehicles trying to get through. We had to lift power lines over the truck to get through certain places. Roads were blocked by 3 foot 'round trees. We had to remove trees from the road to get through certain places. Cars were abandoned. It was in a weird way - amazing. We made it to Rutland around 10am. I had 6 calls by this time from previous customers, and began mapping my route. After it was all said and done - we made it to Upton at 4:30pm.
